Lepicol Twin their Toilets!

Probiotics International Ltd (Protexin), manufacturers of Lepicol, are excited to announce that they are contributing to improvements in sanitation in some third world countries.  The ‘Toilet Twinning’ campaign, run by charities Cord and Tearfund, raise funds by giving people and businesses the opportunity to link their own toilets to those in some of the world’s poorest countries.  The proceeds are used to provide people with safe sanitation, clean water and hygiene education.  Protexin has supported the campaign by twinning four of their toilets to toilets in Uganda, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone and Afghanistan.

Protexin, who recently sponsored the Loo of the Year Awards with their Lepicol product range, manufacture probiotics from their Somerset based head office. Protexin’s Nutritional Therapist Natalie Lamb said: ‘probiotics could help with diarrhoea, constipation and IBS, so as a company we understand the importance of having access to a sanitary toilet’.

Toilet Twinning General Manager Lorraine Kingsley says, “Forty per cent of the world's population don’t have somewhere safe, clean and hygienic to go to the loo, resulting in nearly one in five child deaths each year being due to diarrhoea.

Toilet Twinning raises funds so local communities are inspired to take control of their circumstances by building latrines. Local partners also teach residents about simple life-saving principles such as washing your hands to kill bacteria. We are thrilled that Protexin is supporting us.’
